Support Programs
Behavioral Consultation
An intensive behavioral support service employed to assist service providers and families in understanding the function of challenging behaviors. An integral part of developing plans, consulting with the team, and monitoring progress.
Technical Assistance Team
The Technical Assistance team (TAT) utilizes research and environmental assessment acts as a preventative step to misdiagnosis and/or misrepresentation of behavioral disturbances in a challenged population. The TAT provides support to consumer, multi-disciplinary teams, and families to aid in decreasing the frequency of inappropriate placements and psychiatric inpatient hospitalizations.
Educational Programs
Circles Training
A teaching model which uses six color-coded concentric circles to categorize behaviors commonly associated with differing degrees of intimacy. Teaching tools include videotapes, discussion, workbooks, and role playing. The circle series is divided into three categories; Which include intimacy and relationships, sexuality and health, and Anti-victimization training.
Horizons
A sexuality education program that utilizes videotapes, slides, semantic mapping, charts, role-playing, problem solving, and personal discussion.
Crisis Prevention and Intervention Techniques
A training program designed to aid staff in verbal de-escalation management of individuals who are beginning to exhibit out of control behavior. This one day training will provide participants with a working knowledge of the four levels of crisis development, including the verbal De-escalation continuum, preventative techniques, escape methods, and tips for crisis prevention.
About our Consultant Services
Community Living Consultants was developed in 1995 originally as a behavioral consulting program for people with mental retardation. This program is the longest running behavioral program in Westmoreland County. Our person centered approach through education and consultation assists teams in developing proactive strategies to support people with challenging behaviors.
How to access our services?
Our services may be accessed through various venues. These include direct referrals through our web page at www.communitylivingcare.org, base service units, care managers, or other entities. Many of our services are funded under the Home and Community Based Waiver Program. Admissions, the provisions of services and referrals shall be made without regard to race, color, religious creed, disability, ancestry, national origin, age, sex, or Limited English Proficiency (LEP). |
